Pumpkin Turmeric Soup

This delicious soup has approximately 300kcal. 

Ingredients:

2kg butternut/sweet pumpkin

2 thumb-sized pieces of ginger

6-8 pieces of turmeric

Salt and pepper

2L Lombargini chicken or vegetable stock

1 teaspoon honey

1 tablespoon ground cumin

2 tablespoon Dijon Mustard

Fennel seeds, sumac, and coriander or parsley to garnish

Fry Light Low Calorie Spray

Method

Preheat the oven to 200C.

Chop the pumpkin into 1 inch thick slices, discard the seeds and peel the skin with a potato peeler. Peel the ginger and turmeric and chop roughly. Place on a baking dish, spray with Light Low Calorie Spray and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast for 1 hour or until the pumpkin is cooked through.

Allow to cool for 15 minutes. 

Place about a third of the roast pumpkin with 1/2 cup of stock in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Place the puree in a large pot and repeat twice with the rest of the pumpkin. Add the rest of the Lombardi stock, honey, cumin and mustard to the pot, and bring to the boil slowly on low heat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Garnish with fennel, sumac, and parsley and serve with fresh crusty bread.

Ingredients:

100g minced lean beef

1 green pepper – chopped

1 red pepper – chopped

2 tablespoons baked beans

2 tomatoes – chopped

2oog mushrooms – halved

1 medium Mission Deli Wrap

2 fresh jalapeno peppers – deseeded and chopped

1 onion – chopped

1 tablespoon sweet corn

2 tablespoon Worchester Sauce

2 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander

200 g lettuce leaves

Fry light low-calorie cooking spray

Method:

Begin by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the onions in some Fry Light low-calorie cooking spray and add the beef, stirring them continuously for 5 minutes. Add the baked beanss, the chopped peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, Worchester Sauce, jalapeno, coriander, and sweet corn.

Meanwhile, heat another skillet and quickly warm the Mission Deli Wrap on both sides, until lightly golden and flexible.

Place the Mission Deli Wrap on a plate and top it with the beef mixture and some lettuce.

Marion’s Ice Cream

The recipe have approximately 200 calories.

Ingredients:

100g of strawberries. 

2 scoops Strawberry Meal Replacement (3 scoops if you weight more than 80 kilos).

1 cup of water.

Method:

Mash the strawberries and meal replacement together, add water gradually, and stir until the mixture is smooth. 

Pour the mixture into a container and freeze.

MEATY CANNELLONI

These can be served as a main meal and can be eaten at any time of the day.

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion – finely diced
  • 1 carrot – finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves – finely diced
  • 2 celery stick – finely diced
  • 100g lean minced meat
  • 100ml red wine
  • 250 Lombardi beef stock
  • 2 cans of Aster Chopped Tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Aster Tomato Paste
  • 1 whole nutmeg – to grate
  • 4 cannelloni
  • 2 springs of fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • Fry Light Low-Calorie Spray

Method

  1. Spray a pan with some Fry Light Low-Calorie Spray over medium heat, and fry the onion, celery, and carrot until soft. Add chopped garlic, cook for 2 minutes, and set half aside in a bowl.
  2.  Push the remaining mixture to the side of the pan, add the mince and cook for 5 minutes or until browned, breaking up any lumps.
  3. Pour in the wine, Lombardi stock and chopped tomatoes and season. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes or until slightly reduces.
  4. Add the herbs and spices and continue to stir and cook on low heat.
  5. Spray a small dish with Fry Light Low-Calorie Spray.
  6. Spoon the mixture into the 4 cannelloni with a teaspoon.
  7. Place the cannelloni in the dish.
  8. Pour the remaining sauce over the cannelloni and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until tender.
  9. Tear over the parsley and serve.

Thomas Clinch

Meet Thomas Clinch, a very positive and intelligent person to whom I have the pleasure to speak today.

12 years ago Thomas met Marion Mizzi and since then his life has changed completely.

His journey did not start on what one can call one of our ‘traditional’ weight loss programmes. Thomas joined us when he decided to participate in a TV Show organised by Marion 12 years ago, called “Kilo”, where he and 13 other people were trying to lose weight and win a cash prize.

Initially, Thomas wasn’t selected as a participant, though someone dropped out of the show on the first night so eventually he was invited to replace said participant and that was when he first learned about “Marion Mizzi Wellbeing”.

What was it that drove him to participate in this show? Thomas answers – The first and most important factor was the doctor’s recommendation to lose weight.

Thomas was living a really nonchalant life, not caring about his health, not even about his family. He used to drink high amounts of alcohol on a daily basis, eating mostly junk food, he just had no control over the food he consumed. His weight at the time was 132 kilos and he could feel it in his knees, joints, and back – These were causing him constant pain – there was a need to do something about it. Moreover, the prize was very tempting, so the decision was made: “why not”.

Eventually, Thomas turned out to be the most dedicated participant in the programme. He lost 42 kilos and won the main prize. But this is not what he is excited about. He says “I wasn’t ashamed of how I looked, but what I am ashamed of, is how I was living”.

Since this event, Thomas’s life has absolutely changed. In Thomas’s words, Marion showed him what is really important and made him understand the impact of body weight for one’s general wellbeing.

After getting rid of excess weight Thomas’s joints never hurt again, he totally quit alcohol and junk food, he started going out and enjoying more time with his family. “My look, my life, and my view are absolutely different since then – I started to care about life and now I feel like a 30 year old man. I can hold my breath, I can run, walk and feel pleasure doing it. Marion Mizzi has changed my life and I will be always grateful for what she did.”

Thomas gives one word of advice to everyone:

If you are in pain – the best medicine is to lose weight. Doctors cannot do miracles. You must heal yourself.

For example. if your goal is: “to lose 50 kilos” start by saying, “first I’m going to lose 1 kilo, then 3 kilos and after a few months, it is going to be 15 kilos” etc.

This method can make even the biggest task feel more manageable. 

4. Social support: A necessity for weight loss

According to research, having a specialist who is supportive of your healthy eating is important for long-term weight-loss success.

The specialist will stay in touch for example when we overeat, it is easy to feel ashamed and isolate ourselves.

An incredible story about how successful weight loss changed her life.

Meet our hero Louise Vella, who lost 20 kilos and got the quality of her life back!

Before “feeling exhausted all the time”

Louise started to put on weight as she faced a condition which made her body reject iron, for 5 years her condition was making her unbelievably exhausted. It led her to lead a very inactive life where she used to spend her evenings snacking thus piling on weight. As a consequence her body got weak and her muscles started to wither.
